摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus where the residual capacity or/and the remaining life time of a lead storage battery can be estimated easily and at a low cost, without the need for special power supply or current and voltage controller. SOLUTION: The method is provided with a first process, in which the relationship between a 0-ampere voltage and a no-load standing voltage is found in advance, a second process in which an object battery is electrified for a definite time so as to measure an electrical quantity Q and in which a 0-ampere voltage Vo1 and a 0-ampere voltage Vo2 , before and after its electrification are found and a third process, in which the 0-ampere voltages Vo1 , Vo2 obtained in the second process are applied to the relation in the first process and in which a corresponding no-load left standing voltage Vna and a corresponding no-load left standing voltage Vnb are found. The electrical quantity Q, which is obtained in the second process and the voltages Vna, Vnb, which are obtained in the third process before and after the electrification of the object battery, are applied to a relation to a no-load voltage with reference to a dischargeable electrical quantity found in advance, in each deteriorated state of the same type as that of the object battery, and the remaining capacity or/and the remaining life time are predicted.</p>
