PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyketone fiber having excellent characteristics such as high strength, high modulus, high melting point and high heat resistance, and further to provide a method for producing the fiber with good productivity. SOLUTION: This polyketone fiber is composed of 1-oxotrimethylene represented by chemical formula (1), and has >=60% crystallinity, >=90% crystal orientation, and >=10 cN/dtex tensile strength. The modified degree represented by L<2> /4πA (wherein, L is a circumference length of a cross section of the polyketone fiber; and A is a cross section area) is >=1.2, and the coefficient (μ) of kinetic friction between the fiber and the fiber is 0.01-0.5.
