PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flange joint required to be cooled in order to maintain vacuum or a pressure seal which need not be repaired immediately even when leakage of a cooling medium is generated from a cooling medium flow passage but can stop only a system in which leakage of the cooling medium is generated, or a high-temperature seal flange joint without any insufficient cooling even when the repair is performed immediately, and an operating method using the high-temperature seal flange joint. SOLUTION: In the flange joint having a seal member for maintaining airtightness and having a cooling medium flow passage for cooling the seal member, two independent seal member cooling medium flow passages are disposed on the upstream side of the heat input direction in the seal member, a cooling system is constituted so that each flow passage for cooling medium belongs to each individual cooling system so that the cooling medium is allowed to flow and stop independently in the flow passage unit, and the system is stopped when any water leakage or the like is present.
