PURPOSE: An apparatus for sucking alien substance on the surface of rolls of a rolling mill is provided to efficiently remove dust and alien substance remaining on the surface of the rolls without damage of the surface of the rolls while rolling a strip by passing the strip between upper and lower work rolls. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for sucking thus removing alien substance adhered onto the surface of a roll member (R), the apparatus for sucking alien substance on the surface of rolls of a rolling mill comprises a chamber(20) which is moved back and forth by an operating cylinder(10) so that the chamber(20) approaches to the surface of the roll member (R); a tube member(25) which is received in an inner space of the chamber(20) to move a plural piston pins(27) forward by expansive force formed during air inflow from an air supply source(21); and a header(30) which maintains a certain distance from the surface of the roll member (R) between contact parts(31a,31b) that are closely adhered onto the outer circumferential surface of both ends of the roll member (R) while the piston pins(27) are moved forward, which is integrally consisted of a non-contact part(32), and in which a plural inlets(34) are formed on the front surface of the non-contact part(32), wherein the apparatus sucks thereby removes alien substance adhered onto the surface of the roll member (R) by vacuum sucking force of a vacuum suction device(36) connected to the non-contact part(32).
