PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an enhancement of theft prevention performance. SOLUTION: In the theft prevention device for a vehicle, ID numbers are verified respectively between a portable vehicle key 1 storing a first ID number and capable of transmitting the first ID number, an engine control device 5 storing a second ID number and eleatrical components 7-9 storing a third ID number and permission or non-permission regarding starting and continuing of the operation of an engine is determined. The theft prevention device is provided with a memory means 4b storing a fourth ID number, a fifth ID number and a sixth ID number; ID reading out means 3, 4a for reading out the respective ID numbers from the vehicle key 1, the engine control device 5 and the eleatrical components 7-9; and ID collating means 4 for permitting the starting and continuing of the operation of the engine in the case where the first ID number of the vehicle key 1 is coincident with the fourth ID number of the memory means 4b, the second ID number of the engine control device 5 is coincident with the fifth ID number of the memory means 4b and the third ID number of the eleatrical components 7-9 is coincident with the sixth ID number of the memory means 4b. |
