PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture projecting device capable of automatically adjusting the size of a picture and a focal distance. SOLUTION: This picture projecting device is equipped with light sources 11 to 13 having a means for modulating light to form a picture, a measuring light source 10 supplying measuring light, a mixing optical system 14 mixing the light to form the picture and the measuring light on one optical axis, a projecting means 15 for projecting the light mixed by the optical system 14 to a screen 2 by scanning, a photodetector 4 detecting the measuring light reflected on the screen 2, and correction means 20, 21, 23 and 24 correcting the picture by controlling projecting light based on the detected result by the photodetector 4.
