PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for removing a coating of an optical fiber, which can remove the coating of the optical fiber intermediate part over specific length highly precisely without damaging a clad surface. SOLUTION: This apparatus is equipped with a couple of blades (3a, 3b) for forming a cut in the coating of an optical fiber (1) and heating means (4a, 4b) for heating the couple of blades to specific temperature. The couple of blades each have an arcuate tip ridge part and a couple of concave curved surfaces formed on both its side. The couple of blades are formed of materials which are harder than the coating of the optical fiber and softer than the clad of the optical fiber. |
