PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoforming mold capable of shortening a required time by omitting a charge removing process for venting gas, capable of manufacturing two friction materials at once and capable of enhancing the quality and productivity of the friction material at the same time, and a method for manufacturing the friction material. SOLUTION: A core mold 25 is dimensionally set so as to be capable of housing the friction materials in such a state that friction material cloths corresponding to two friction materials are superposed one upon another up and down and an appropriate number of venting holes 25b are provided to the peripheral wall in the vicinity of the boundary of the housed friction material cloths 22 corresponding to two friction materials as venting means.
