PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material for plate making having a high density, ultrahigh contrast, high definition, excellent suitability to FM screening and few black spots and to provide a processing method for the material. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material has at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer on one face of a support and contains at least one compound of formula (I). Preferably the photographic sensitive material contains a hydrazine derivative as a contrast enhancer and is processed with a developing solution of pH 8-11.
