PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool excellent in surface lubricity for cutting chips. SOLUTION: This surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool comprises a lubrication coated layer deposited physically on the surface of a tool base body comprising tungsten carbide base cemented carbide alloy or titanium carbonitride base cermet. This surface lubrication coated layer comprises (a) a closely contact substrate coat layer comprising one kind or two or more kinds of layer out of a carbide layer, a nitride layer and a carbonitride layer, (b) a hard coated layer comprising a compound nitride layer of Ti and Al and/or a compound carbonitride layer of Ti and Al, (c) an intermediate closely contact coated layer comprising one kind or two or more kinds of layer out of a compound carboxide layer and a compound carbonitroxide layer of Ti and Al, and (d) a compound oxide of Zr and M (M shows one kind or two or more kinds of element out of Ti, V, Nb and Ta).
