PURPOSE: A method of controlling a data rate of an IWF(Inter Working Function) is provided to control a data rate of the IWF, in order to connect to a device for transmitting data at a high speed by using a terminal for transmitting data at a low speed, thereby transceiving the data without an error. CONSTITUTION: A cellular mobile communication system decides whether data for data communication is transmitted from a terminal(S100). If so, the system confirms a data rate of the terminal(S110). The system sets a data rate of an IWF in the same method by using the data rate of the confirmed terminal(S120). The IWF performs the data communication between the terminal and a PSTN by using the data rate set in the same method(S130). The system decides whether to continue the data communication. If so, the system feeds back to the step 'S110'. If the data communication does not continue, the system completes the process(S140).
