PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate discharge of sulfur oxide taken in a nitrogen oxide absorbent. SOLUTION: A nitrogen oxide purifying device is formed that a material 7 effecting occlusion of NOx in exhaust gas is incorporated in a nitrogen oxide purifying tower 5. When a poisoning material, such as a sulfur oxide in exhaust gas, is separated away from the occlusion material 7, fuel (b) and air (c) are directly introduced in the nitrogen oxide purifying tower 5, and the poisoning material is separated from the occlusion material under fuel rich state by its combustion heat.
