PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining a package finish which keeps a packaging film under tension and causes no wrinkle even in the case where the inconvenience of feeding the film is caused by a difference in characteristics of a film due to its material or by packaging conditions, without greatly altering a fundamental mechanism of current packaging machines. SOLUTION: The packaging method for a container 15 is such that the container 15 whose upper surface is opened is pushed upward from below a packaging film 12 by a push-up means 16 to cover the upper surface of the container 15 with the film 12 and that portions of the film 12, which are flapped downward from side edges of the container 15, are folded into the underside of the container 15 by folding plates 18 movable in the direction orthogonal to the direction of the movement of the push-up means 16. Two pieces of film pressing plates 17 are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the film 12 and are set in parallel with the folding plates 18. A path for the container 15 is provided between two pieces of the film pressing plates 17, and when the container 15 is pushed upward, the portions of the film, which are flapped downward from the side edges of the container 15, are brought into contact with two pieces of the film pressing plates 17.
