PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering plastics efficiently from unnecessary optical disks. SOLUTION: In the first method, optical disks or the fragments of the coarsely crushed optical disks are agitated in an acidic solution and then agitated in an organic solvent so that protective films (or metal films) are dissolved/ separated from plastic substrates to recover plastic pieces. In the second method, the optical disks or the fragments of the coarsely crushed optical disks are agitated in the mixture of the acidic solution and the organic solvent so that the protective films (or the metal films) are dissolved/separated from the plastic substrates to recover the plastic pieces. In the first and second method, the optical disks or the fragments of the coarsely crushed optical disks, after being agitated in the solution, are generally cleaned and dried to recover the plastic pieces.
