PURPOSE: A washing machine is provided to supply water to an upper part of a washing tub for spraying the water to clothing from the upper part of the washing tub by using a pumping element, thereby forming whirlpools and improving the washing efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine includes a washing tub(54) and a dehydration tub(56) mounted in an outer case for washing, rinsing and dehydrating operations, a pulsator(58) mounted to a bottom surface of the washing tub for forming water streams for increasing the washing efficiency, a motor(60) for supplying driving force to the pulsator, and a pumping unit(70) mounted between the motor and the washing tub for supplying the water on the bottom of the washing tub to the upper part of the washing tub by the rotation force of the motor, thereby increasing the washing force. |
