The automobile door closure has a rotary latch (26) cooperating with a pin (12) for securing the door and a locking catch (24) for holding the latch in engagement with the pin in the door closed position, with an electric closure aid (18) for assisting the door movement over the last part of its closure path having a drive which is mechanically released from engagement with the door upon operation of the unlocking mechanism (52,58,66).
