PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair conditioning composition that has pleasant smell of perfume and long retention of the smell, shows high spreadability and smoothness, when applied to the hair and gives the dried hair satisfactory smoothness, moistness, gloss, suitable resilience and firmness. SOLUTION: The hair conditioning composition comprises the following (A) through (D) components: (A) an amide amine represented by general formula (1): R<1> CONH(CH2 )m N(R<2> )2 (1) (R<1> is a 13-21C aliphatic group; R<2> is a 1-4C alkyl; m is an integer of 2-4); (B) a higher alcohol; (C) a mixture of a dimethylpolysiloxane with a viscosity of 500,000-20,000,000 mm<2> /s and a dimethylpolysiloxane with a viscosity of 10,000 mm<2> /s; (D) a perfume component having an vapor pressure of >=13.3 Pa at 25 deg.C.
