PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine having a small dimension and causing no excessive load on the engine. SOLUTION: In this exhaust emission control device, an exhaust selector valve 15 is provided with a passage 13 leading to a NOx storage catalyst 12 contained in a NOx storage reduction catalyst device 10 which is provided at an exhaust pipe 7 of the engine 1 and a diaphragm 17 is provided between the exhaust selector valve 15 and the NOx storage catalyst 12 to divide the passage 13 and the NOx storage catalyst 12 into two. One of the divided passage 13 is connected to a first feed pipe 23 having a first switching valve 24, and the other thereof is connected to a second feed pipe 25 having a second switching valve 26. Fuel is supplied to the first feed pipe 23 and the second feed pipe 25 from a feed pump 20. A controller 32 is connected with a detecting means of the amount of accumulated NOx 40, the first switching valve 24 and the second switching valve 26.
