摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat sensitive recording material which can obtain sufficiently excellent gradability even in any region of a region having a low application energy to a region having a high application energy and which has a high density, excellent color developing uniformity and gloss. SOLUTION: The heat sensitive recording material comprises a heat sensitive color developing layer containing a leuco dye, a developer for heat color developing the dye, and a binder resin as a bonding agent as main components on a support having Oken type smoothness of 200 s or more, a first protective layer on the color developing layer, and a second protective layer containing no inorganic pigment on the first layer. In this case, the binder resin of the color developing layer contains a heat sensitive color developing layer total solid content of 15 to 30 wt.%. The color developing layer contains a substance having a melting point of 110 deg.C or lower (e.g. an oxalic di-(p-methylbenzyl) ester or the like, and glossiness of the color developing surface according to JIS P 8142 process is 70% or more.
