PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet which has excellent forgery/ falsification preventiveness and which imparts a printed matter having excellent design properties. SOLUTION: The thermal transfer sheet comprises a mold release layer, an intermediate layer and a heat sensitive adhesive layer sequentially laminated on one surface of a base film. In this sheet, the intermediate layer and the adhesive layer each contains a fluorescent agent which emits a fluorescence when the agent is irradiated with an ultraviolet ray.
