PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coating equipment for easily forming a transparent thin film containing metal oxide particle on an existing structure of a large area without the occurrence of a failure and a method of forming the thin film containing the metal oxide particles on a construction body. SOLUTION: The coating equipment for forming the transparent thin film containing the metal oxide particle, in which the structure consists of a supporting section and a cylindrical section connected to this supporting section; the cylindrical section consists of a base body having rigidity and a multiplicity of acicular materials of 1 to 4 mm in length in the longitudinal direction embedded and fixed into the base body; a coating liquid containing the metal oxide particles can be held among the acicular materials; and the cylindrical section is fixed to the supporting section so as not to rotate even if the supporting section is moved in parallel to the construction body while the cylindrical section is partly brought into contact with the construction body and the method of forming the thin film containing the metal oxide particles on the construction body by using the same.
