A mixer for mixing gases and other Newtonian liquids comprises a flow channel which contains surfaces (2) that affect the flow. The surfaces create vortices and have front edges (4) that are directed against the flow and run with and laterally to the flow. A number of surfaces are arranged in a row (6), laterally to the main flow direction (3), and adjacent surfaces partially overlap.
