PURPOSE: A method for controlling the washing stroke of a washing machine is provided to carry out the clutch operation normally for preventing the damage of circuit parts and mechanical parts due to the overload, thereby extending the lifespan. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling the washing stroke of a washing machine includes the steps of carrying out clutch operation for controlling the power of a washing shaft not to be transmitted to a dehydration shaft(103-115), primarily transmitting power of a power supply to a rotator of a motor for the normal rotation of the rotator(118), determining whether the clutch operation is normally carried out while the rotator is normally rotating(127), and repeating the clutch operation or carrying out the washing stroke according to the determination result(102,130). Herein, the determination is carried out on the basis of a current value detected by the transmitted power. |
