A water-insoluble monoazo dye of the following formula (I): <CHEM> which has a crystalline structure characterized by an X-ray diffraction pattern (CuK alpha ) showing relatively strong peaks at a diffraction angle (2 theta ) of about 10.6 DEG , 14.1 DEG and 26.5 DEG and intermediate peaks at a diffraction angle (2 theta ) of about 5.2 DEG , 21.1 DEG , 24.1 DEG and 27.9 DEG . <IMAGE>
