1339170 Epoxidation of olefins SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 24 June 1971 [26 June 1970] 29645/71 Heading C2C One or more olefinic compounds is reacted with one or more organic hydroperoxides to produce one or more oxirane compounds in the presence of, as a heterogeneous catalyst, a silicide of Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Cr, Mo or W, or mixtures thereof. It is preferred to use said catalysts in amounts from 0À01-200 wt. per cent based on the hydroperoxide. Specified olefinic materials which can be epoxidized are propylene, octene, allyl chloride and allyl alcohol. Preferred organic hydroperoxides are tertiary butyl hydroperoxide and ethylbenzene hydroperoxide. |
