PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a friction member having a fastening hole bored in a back plate, friction material filled in the hole, and the friction material applied to the surface of the back plate, in which water or the like is difficult to invade into a gap between the fastening hole and the friction material, if any. SOLUTION: In the back plate 10, at least one fastening holes 11, each comprising a large diameter part 11b on the back surface side and a small diameter part 11a on the surface side, are bored, and the friction material 12 is filled in the fastening holes 11 to be temporarily molded. On the surface of the back plate 10, the friction material 13 is overlapped, and obtained matter is held between plural dies in a pressing machine to be pressurized and heated, so that the friction material 15 is fixed to the back plate 10. Since a bottom surface 11c of the large diameter part 11b is parallel to a back surface 10b of the back plate, a gap is not generated even when the friction material 12 is contracted in a radial direction, thereby water will not invade into the gap in the small diameter part 11a. |
