PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an embossed sheet which is free from adhesion of a sheet to a back-up roll in embossing for a calendering of an olefin resin, excellent in an appearance of the sheet to be obtained, further excellent in transfer of an embossed pattern and suitably used for a usage and the like from which a surface design property is required. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing an olefin resin sheet calender which is embossed by passing a plasticized olefin resin composition between an embossing roll (2) and a back-up roll (3) installed parallel to the embossing roll (2), the back-up roll (3) is cooled by being immersed into a coolant of a cooling tank (4), and a cooling water stuck to the back-up roll (3) is removed by suction with a hollow liquid sucking roll (5) having a transmission hole connected to a pressure reducing device containing a vacuum pump (6) coming contact parallel to the back-up roll at an outlet side from the cooling tank (4) to provide the method for manufacture of the embossed sheet and its manufacturing method.
