PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost heat-resistant electrode in which the problem of electrical and optical low heat resistance can be solved without using expensive noble metal and which has low electrical resistance and high vertical reflectivity, a target for the heat-resistant electrode, a method for manufacturing the heat-resistant electrode, and a thin film EL(electroluminescence) element using the same. SOLUTION: The heat-resistant electrode which has a composition containing Ag and Ni and having 0.07-20 atomic % Ni content, the target composed of a sintered compact with the above composition and used for the heat-resistant electrode, the method for manufacturing the heat-resistant electrode, and the thin film EL element using the same are provided.
