PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coal ignition apparatus and its method enabling secure and effective ignition on coal in a short time. SOLUTION: Electrodes 11a and 11b are placed oppositely on a coal ignition oven 1 where heat resistant and insulating work is applied to the inside. The coal is accommodated to bed and voltage is applied between both electrodes 11a and 11b. Electric current is flown via the coal between both electrodes 11a and 11b. The coal generates heat by means of resistance of the coal own and ignites.
