PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle dispersion sol of a metal oxide and/or metal peroxide which is uniformly dispersed, is excellent in stability and can be utilized in various fields, such as highly active photocatalysts, antimicrobial agents, and dyestuff sensitized solar batteries and a method of manufacturing the same and particulate powder. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing the particle dispersion sol comprises the steps of forming the precipitate of a metal hydroxide by adding a basic solution to a solution containing a metal salt; separating the precipitate of the metal hydroxide obtained in the above step from the solution; dispersing the separated metal hydroxide into hydrogen peroxide water and subjecting the resultant solution to heat treatment; and forming the particulates of the metal oxide and/or the meal peroxide in the above heat treatment step. Zinc, aluminum, niobium, etc., are contained in the metal.
