An image input unit (12) inputs a first image and a second image. A matching processor (14) performs multiresolution analysis between the first and second images and performs pixel matching therebetween, but the matching processor (14) discontinues its processing before final . resolution is reached. A simplified processor (30) switches the on-going matching processing to a simplified method whose computation load is lighter, so as to generate corresponding point data for final resolution.
