A component for artificial milk powders based on skimmed milk and intended for calves comprises soluble starch in which is incorporated a water-soluble magnesium compound, e.g. magnesium chloride. The artificial milk powder may also contain soluble starch into which a water-soluble calcium compound, e.g. calcium chloride, has been incorporated. According to the example, 50 g. of magnesium chloride is added to 1 kg. of starch in the form of a 35-45% aqueous supension, and the mixture converted by passage through drying rollers to a soluble starch powder, and a calcium-chloride-soluble starch component is prepared similarly. |
