PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the adhesion between ink and a substrate while compatibilizing ink jet adaptability with reliability as a color filter. SOLUTION: This ink at least comprises water, a water-soluble organic solvent, and a colorant. The colorant at least contains a first pigment and a second pigment. The first pigment is a self-dispersible pigment having at least one kind of hydrophilic groups bonded, directly or via other groups of atoms, to the surface of a pigment. The second pigment is dispersible in an aqueous medium by a polymeric dispersant. The ink further contains a polymeric dispersant which functions as a dispersant for the second pigment. The ink is used for ink jet and for a color filter for a liquid crystal.
