PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp positioning method which can position a discharge lamp efficiently in a short time without consuming much lamp electric power. SOLUTION: The lamp positioning method which positions a discharge lamp 1 in a reflector 2 by reflecting the light emitted by the discharge lamp 1 by the reflector 2 and measuring its reflected light is characterized by that the discharge lamp 1 emits the light by glow discharging.
