PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing molten glass gob, etc., which are capable of preventing wetting of an outflow nozzle with the molten glass and preventing the change in properties of glass. SOLUTION: The method of forming a glass forming comprising allowing molten glass to flow out of the outflow port of the nozzle existing under a dry gaseous atmosphere, forming a molten glass gob from the outflowing molten glass, then forming the glass forming formed from the molten glass gob or forming the glass forming from the outflowing molten glass. The planar glass forming is manufactured by this method and the resultant planar glass forming is cut to form glass pieces, then the resultant glass pieces are subjected to barrel polishing to obtain preforms. The preforms manufactured by this method are heated and the heated preforms are subjected to pressure forming, by which press formed goods are obtained. The glass formed goods manufacturing by the method described above are subjected to grinding and polishing, by which optical elements are manufactured. The optical elements are obtained by heating the preforms manufactured by the method described above and subjecting the heated preforms to precision press forming.
