PURPOSE: An optical transmitter having an optical strength/wavelength stability control circuit using an integrated chip is provided to reduce its size by using elements composed in the optical strength/wavelength stability control circuit as the integrated chip. CONSTITUTION: A laser diode module(30) outputs a wavelength of a laser diode. An optical strength/wavelength stability control unit(34) performs a control operation for stably transmitting the wavelength outputted from the laser diode module(30), and elements for unifying an optical strength are composed as an integrated chip in the optical strength/wavelength stability control unit(34). A microprocessor(31) sets a reference voltage when the internal portion of the laser diode module(30) is at a normal temperature. The optical strength/wavelength stability control unit(34) compares a voltage of a thermistor which senses an increased/decreased temperature of the laser diode with the reference voltage set in the microprocessor(31) and outputs the compared result value. A TEC(Thermo Electric Cooling module) driving unit(32) adjusts a current quantity supplied to a TEC which cools and heats the laser diode according to the result value outputted from the optical strength/wavelength stability control unit(34), maintains a temperature of the laser diode as the normal temperature, and stabilizes the wavelength of the laser diode. The optical strength/wavelength stability control unit(34) compares a current quantity which flows in a photo detector with the reference voltage set in the microprocessor(31) and outputs the compared result value. A laser diode driving unit(33) controls a driving current supplied to the laser diode according to the compared result value outputted from the optical strength/wavelength stability control unit(34), and uniformly maintain the optical strength of the laser diode. |
