MAGNESIUM-ALLOY SHEET AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium-alloy sheet having improved ductility and being more suitable for plastic working, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: Such a magnesium-alloy sheet as has a highest proportion between the peak of the (111) face and its equivalent peak in the X-ray diffraction pattern is used. It is preferable that, in the magnesium-alloy sheet, the proportion of the sum of the intensity of the peak of the (110) face and that of its equivalent peak to the sum total of the intensities of all peaks is regulated to 30-70%. Such a magnesium-alloy sheet can be obtained by using a manufacturing method having a step of melting a magnesium alloy into liquid state or solid/ liquid coexisting state and a step of solidifying the resultant molten alloy while applying compressive stress in a sheet-thickness direction simultaneously while molding it into sheet-like state.
