PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element having a high luminous efficiency and showing excellent stability after repeated use. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element material is represented by formula [1] [wherein R<1> and R<2> , which are independent of each other, are each oxygen or cyano-substituted nitrogen, provided that the case in which both R<1> and R<2> are oxygen atoms is excluded, R<3> and R<4> , which are independent of each other, are each hydrogen, a halogen, an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl, a heterocyclic group, or COOR<7> (wherein R<7> is an alkyl, an alkenyl, or an aryl or is a heterocyclic group); and R<5> and R<6> , which are independent of each other, are each an aryl or a heterocyclic group].
