PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fabric guide device for a sewing machine in which workability in sewing can be improved, and a sewing machine using the fabric guide device. SOLUTION: The fabric guide device (40) for the sewing machine is provided with a fabric guide (41) to be abutted on the terminal part of an object to be sewn for positioning the object to be sewn on a feeding table correspondingly to a distance from the terminal part of the object to be sewn to the prescribed position of stitches to be formed. By moving only the feeding table without changing the position of the fabric guide, the position of the fabric guide relative to the feeding table is relatively changed. Therefore, it is not necessary for a worker to manually adjust the position of the fabric guide correspondingly to a position to form stitches, and workability in sewing can be improved.
