Kurtovszka Kapia a consumable (salad) paprika has freely withering, highly disease-resistant fruits. Crops ripen simultaneously, have a high dry-matter content (10.5%) and are rich in vitamin C (176 mg) and in sugar (5%). Fruits have a pleasing flavour and are highly pigmented. Plants grow fast after a slow start and have a high water demand once fruits are set. This variety cannot be grown unless being watered. Fruits set well and a single plant yields 15-20 peppers. The colour of peppers is anthocyanic (mauve) at first, turns to green later and has a red colour when ripened. This variety is primarily grown on from seedlings, but may be sown directly in beds provided green crops are acceptable for sale. Owing to the intrinsic value of its compsn. this variety may be desiccated or used by the canning industry. This variety does not shrivel on shelves, due to a thick epidermis and consequently it is favoured by supermarket chains. |
