PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of and an apparatus for treating an organic waste liquid capable of efficiently removing an organic component in the organic waste liquid. SOLUTION: The treatment apparatus S for the organic waste liquid WG is equipped with an anaerobic treatment tank 1 for subjecting the organic waste liquid WG to methane fermentation, a nitrification and denitrification tank 4 for nitrifying and denitrifying a treated liquid W3 being a part of the treated liquid W2 supplied from the anaerobic treatment tank 1 through a denitrification tank 2, a solid-liquid separator 5 for subjecting the treated liquid W4 from the nitrification and denitrification tank 4 to solid-liquid separation treatment, a circulating water tank 3 and a pump P1 both of which circulate the liquid W5 other than the liquid supplied to the nitrification and denitrification tank 4 in the treated liquid from the anaerobic treatment tank 1 within a first circulating system J1 and a pump P3 for supplying the liquid phase W7 formed in the solid-liquid separator 5 to the denitrification tank 2 of the first circulating system J1.
