PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for growing a firefly and further to provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: A net container 2 through the interior 2a of which water current 1 can pass is arranged in the natural water current such as a river suitable for the inhabitation of a larva A of the firefly and shellfish B such as a black snail which is a food of the larva A, and the shellfish B such as the black snail are inserted into the interior of the net container 2. Food C such as vegetable waste which is preferred by the shellfish such as the black snail is also inserted into the interior 2a of the net container 2 to propagate the shellfish B such as spats. Thereafter, the larva of the firefly is inserted into the interior 2a of the net container 2 to raise the larva A of the firefly in the interior 2a of the net container 2 to the last instar larva Aa.
