PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent biting of yarn between a braking lever and an auxiliary lever in a lever brake mechanism of a spinning reel. SOLUTION: The lever brake mechanism is equipped with a braking cylinder, a braking lever 21, a prescribed braking mechanism and an auxiliary lever 22. The braking cylinder rotates interlockingly with rotation of a rotor in the yarn feed direction. The braking lever is attached swingably to the reel body 2 and when a first operating part is operated to a direction approaching an attaching part, the base end of the braking lever is brought into contact with the braking cylinder to brake the rotor. The prescribed braking mechanism can change over rotation of the rotor to a brake-releasing state and a prescribed braking state. The top of the auxiliary lever is provided at a position separated from a fishing rod-attaching part by the braking lever and the base end side of the auxiliary lever are arranged in a row with the braking lever and a part of the auxiliary lever is swingably attached to the reel body in a state enclosed by the braking lever to change over state of the prescribed braking mechanism.
