FIELD: tobacco industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has sublimation channel for passage of tobacco material distributed in hot gas flow and for sublimation of solid carbon dioxide and expansion of tobacco. Sublimation channel has non-circular, preferably rectangular, section, which is increasing from inlet portion to intermediate portion and decreasing from intermediate portion to outlet portion. Part of sublimation channel extending between inlet and outlet portions may be made in the form of arc defining tobacco advancement path.
