PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chrominance signal processing circuit that can simply realize high-speed white balance control while eliminating factors causing malfunctions in a processing system where a field period is small. SOLUTION: The chrominance signal processing circuit, for applying feedback control to an output signal from a solid-state image pickup element 2 to carry out white balancing automatically, is provided with a white balance amplifier 502 that adjusts gains between primary color signals R(red), G(green) and B(Blue), an optical detector 6 acting like an integration means that obtains an integral value of the primary color signals by each field, and a controller 7 that compares the integral value obtained by the integration means with a preset reference value and that changes a gain manipulated variable of the white balance amplifier 502 depending on the result of comparison.
