The lid has a peripheral groove (13) receiving the edge (11) of the container body and having an inner wall (14), an outer wall (15) and a groove base. The groove is provided with a peripheral insert (17) made from soft elastic plastic which is tightly connected to the lid material and is dimensioned so that when the lid is closed the edge of the container body presses against the insert along its entire periphery.
