PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reader-writer which can discriminate the modulation and demodulation systems of IC cards different in a modulation and demodulation system, further discriminate a plurality of cards different in type, and perform reading and writing matching them even when the IC cards are passed through the same reader- writer. SOLUTION: This reader-writer comprises a transmitter receiver 1 which administers a communication protocol for data with an external computer 50, a controller 2 which controls the operation of the whole reader writer 100, a memory device 3 which stores firmware where a procedure of operating the controller 2 is recorded and a plurality of modulation and demodulation systems, a modulator 4 which modulates data from the controller 2 with a carrier, an input device 5 which inputs operation commands, a display device 6 which displays the information from the controller 2, a power amplifier 7 which performs the power amplification of an electric power supply signal as the AC signal from the controller 2 and a write command from the modulator 4, a detecting demodulator 8 which converts the carrier received from a loop antenna 9 into binarized data, the loop antenna 9 which sends and receives a carrier for electric power and data to and from an unillustrated IC card, and a random number generating device 10 which generates a random number for prevention against a collision of communication between IC cards. |
