PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to readily find but that a foreign matter causing interference with photographing is adhered with foreign matter detection prior to photographing, by displaying the amount of the foreign matter considering the size and position of the foreign matter stuck near an imaging element of a camera. SOLUTION: A shutter 107 is made open, while preventing luminous flux from outside from being incident into an imaging element 116, and the element 116 is illuminated by an illuminating device 118 of the camera. Then, a foreign matter stuck on a low-pass filter or on an infrared cutting filter is detected on the basis of an output signal from the element 116, the foreign matter is evaluated by changed weighting, according to the position or size of the foreign matter. Accordingly, the adhering state of the foreign matter is displayed for a photographer with evaluation close to human sensitivity. |
