PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of adjusting a bentonite pH and a method of processing bentonite-containing excavated surplus soil capable of easily neutralize bentonite-containing surplus soil in the form of alkali clay and capable of effectively preventing a rebound. SOLUTION: In this method of adjusting the bentonite pH, organic acid is added and mixed into bentonite at a specified ratio to adjust the pH of the mixture in a neutral area. In this method of processing bentonite-containing excavated surplus soil, a specified amount of bentonite is added and mixed into a specified amount of organic acid to adjust the excavated surplus soil in a neutral state where planting is allowed.
