PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high voltage power supply provided with a safe short circuit protective means and a means to indicate component wear and tear or a sign of deterioration. SOLUTION: The high voltage power supply of the electrophotographic apparatus using an electrophotographic system is provided with a developing bias AC circuit 1 (high voltage generating means), an on-off element 2a to switch the high voltage output to the developing bias AC circuit 1, an electric current detecting circuit (electric current detecting means) 3 to detect an electric current flowing through the on-off element 2a, a reference voltage comparator circuit (comparison means) 4 to compare the detected value of the electric current detecting circuit 3 with a reference value, and a control means to keep the on-off element 2a to an off state only for a fixed period on the basis of the comparison result of the reference voltage comparator circuit 4. |
